The Funny Little Kanji

The repetition kanji, , is known as both odoriji (踊り字, literally, a character that jumps, dances, leaps, or skips!) and kurikaeshi fugō (繰り返し符号: repetition sign). This symbol is the equivalent of ditto marks. That is, you can write 時時 as 時々. Both say tokidoki, and both mean “sometimes.”
