There are at least two other places in Japan with 浜 (hama) in their names:
浜松 (Hamamatsu: a city on the island of Honshu, in Shizuoka Prefecture) seashore + pine tree
新居浜 (Niihama: a city on the island of Shikoku, in Ehime Prefecture) new + to reside + seashore
Together, the first two kanji mean “new home.” So 新居浜 is a new home by the seashore.
In case you’re wondering where all these places are in Japan, here’s a map with Shizuoka Prefecture front and center. Pull back far enough, and you’ll see Yokohama to the northeast. And here’s another map that shows Ehime Prefecture prominently.
