新町 (Shin-machi) new + town
本町 (Hon-machi) main + townThis tends to be the central section of a town.
落合 (Ochiai) to flow down + to meet
This is a place where two villages merge, usually divided by a hill. Amazingly specific! The verb 落ち合う (ochiau) means “to gather, meet, join, flow together.”
