(I) can propose another anime. It is called "The Pilot's Love Song" (eng. title; literally, Love Song to a Certain Pilot).
It is a bit romatic, but not too romantic. There are also really exciting dogfights!
A dogfight is a battle in the sky (air-to-air combat), but without dogs, of course.

I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned Dragon Ball (all three anime), Doraemon, Sailor Moon, Hellsing, or several other classic series...

Personally Dragon Ball was the first full series I watched in raw Japanese (total of 508 episodes in DB/Z/GT, 17 movies, and 4 OVA), and I felt it was a great series to start with. With the beginning of the series the language is pretty simplistic (with the exception of Son Goku's accent) and as the characters grow up, so do their speech patterns and vocabulary. Plus it's a fun adventure (and if you're like me, totally nostalgic). If you can get past Vegeta's sailor mouth (seriously) and Son Goku's heavy accent, it's really fun to experience the series in it's original format.

But really I'd recomment any kind of series that has the characters grow up on screen. I've noticed that it's a pattern in those kinds of series where the language of the show grows with the character.

I'm also a subscriber of Crunchyroll, been watching anime for years, but picked up even more lately because I suddenly found out I should learn Japanese.

Anyways, Log Horizon, Aldenoah Zero, Tokyo Ghoul and Parasyte is a few good ones that are recent.
Tokyou ghoul can be found on kissanime tho..

Log Horizon I find extremely helpful because there is a lot of dialog and really "real life" situations for new japanese learners and the series is either really good or really bad, depending on your taste.
But I absolutely love it!

I just found one more that is really helpful for beginners, like really helpful, I don't personally like the show, but the speech is slow and nice for beginners.
