Unfortunately, it seems mixi has started requiring people to have a japanese cell phone email address to sign up.

that's true.

i heard it was because people were doing things like making multiple profiles and fake profiles. generally you only have 1 cellphone, so it was one way to cut back on abuse.

I definitely understand why they did it, but I wish they could have found a way that didn't lock out people who don't live in Japan.
