Kanji resources needed

Postby NihongoWaBenkyotte_500383 » August 25th, 2014 2:57 am

This year, there is only one JLPT being offered in my part of the country, and that's December 7. I'm going for N4, and that's a bit of a push, for me. I found that it's easy to drill vocabulary, except when it involves kanji because you have the onyomi and kunyomi readings.

I have spent a lot of time with the Japanesepod101.com flash card system, and it's really helped me build my vocabulary. However, the kanji on the flash card doesn't show the different onyomi readings. And then I thought to myself, well maybe the flashcards are supposed to be building Japanese vocabulary and are not intended as being a kanji study tool.

Do we have a method of learning the kanji readings on this site? What is the way to do that here? And, do we have JLPT lists already created? A user must have done that already, I suspect.

Hi

unfortunately jpod101's weak side is kanji studying (in my opinion at least).
I am using the jpdos101 kanji bank as a reference tool and do the learning process offline with old fashioned hand written flash cards and repetition.

As a reference for stroke order sample sentences and such i use a few different resources like wadoku.de and http://lingweb.eva.mpg.de/kanji/ (those two are german sites but there are english ones you could use) and books like Kodansha Kanji

Find a listing of jplt n4 kanjis here for example http://nihongoichiban.com/2011/05/22/complete-list-of-kanji-for-the-jlpt-n4/

It would be great if jpod101 could expand on kanji learning, cause right now its of little to no use what you get on this site regarding kanji.
Besides that everyhing else here (Lessons and stuff) is great.

Hi JapanesePod101 Listeners!

Thank you for all your comments and feedback.

We do have Kanji study tools, you can start learning these basic Kanji to get familiar with the Japanese writing system:
http://www.japanesepod101.com/japanese-kanji/

You can also add any word you find in our site's the dictionary to your Kanji Bank, there you will find the onyomi and kunyomi:

Please, let us know if you have questions.

I find http://readthekanji.com indispensable. Using that site helped me pass JLPT N2 last year.
