Japanese names sound nice. I want to make a unique male japanese name for myself. I want the name to sound natural and nice in both english and japanese. Since I was serious about making a really cool japanese name that I can identify with proudly, I researched for a few days. I started composing names from fragments, suffixes, and prefixes.

I gathered a list of fragments below.

  • Ano-, Aki-
  • -da-
  • Hiro-
  • Ishi-, -inu-, Ino-
  • -kami-(-gami), kawa, Kita-, Kuro-, -ko-, Kono-, Komi-, -kichi
  • Mi-, -michi, -mori-, -mura-
  • -Naga-, Naka-, Negi-, -neko-
  • Oka-
  • Sono-
  • -tachi, -tama-
  • Usa-
  • -ya-, -yama-, yaki, -yako, -yuka-, yuki, Yo-
  • ...

From the fragments, I composed a list of names.

  • Tamaya, Kayama, Miyama, Mitayama, Kuroyama, Konoyama, Kitayama, Kamiyama, Kuniyama, Nakayama, Hiroyama, Ishiyama, Inuyama, Usayama, Kuniyama, Moriyama, Murayama, Negiyama, Oyama
  • Komichi, Kuromichi, Anomich, Inumichi, Sonomich, Kitamichi, Nekomichi, Nakamich(中道), Kunomich
  • Nakamura, Kitamura, Negimura, Yukimura
  • Murasaki
  • Tamako
  • Konaka(子中)
  • Yamaneko, Morineko
  • Kitagami, Nekogami, Inugami, Yamagami
  • Tomiya

Somehow, a lot of names that I came up with end in such suffixes as -yama, -michi, -mura, and -gami. However, almost all nice names were used by people, companies, and fictional characters. I'm a bit afraid of becoming one of many people who have the same name.

How can I better find male japanese names that are rarely used and sound nice in both english and japanese?

How about the website below?
http://www.behindthename.com
and kanji is ideogram so if you can choose kanji has a good meaning, your name is good, too.

There are so many Japanese names. (Different Kanji, same Katakana.)
It was too difficult to me.
Anyway my favorite Kanji is '悠'. It means 'long last'.
when I make my Japanese name for online character, I always input Kanji '悠'.

It could be helpful to use Japanese name maker or Japanese name dictionary also.
