Japanese food, sports, television, movies, music, Japanese anime, manga, and the list goes on - food and entertainment is a huge part of Japanese culture.
Hey guys, so i plan on going to japan with my family in the future, but the thing is that everybody of our family is vegetarian and i'm trying to become vegan, so it's a problem to find good food for us no matter where we go. That being said do any of you guys have suggestions of a good dishes in the Japanese culinary that are meat free? I would really like to try the famous Japanese culinary but i'm not sure what i can eat.
Last time I visited Japan I stayed in a Buddhist temple where the food served was fully vegan (breakfast and dinner were included in the accommodation), and seriously delicious. I think this style of cooking is called shojin ryori (精進料理). Maybe you could look for places to stay and eat and serve vegan food in the Buddhist tradition?
