Book or Website On Historically Interesting Places in Japan

Postby Mike_in_Nano » December 21st, 2007 9:39 am

I have just moved to Japan and will be here for a few years. I am interested in places my wife and I can go on overnight trips for 2 or 3 days from Tokyo to enjoy the country side as well as the history.

We have been to Nara which was great. My wife especially likes Temples. Does anyone know websites or books in English that have more than just pretty pictures that would be useful.

Thanks

Nachi Taisha

Hello,

I am not sure if 2-3 days is enough, but definitely worth a try:

After hiking in the Kii Mountains of Japan I was so impressed I started a Wiki site on the sites within them. The one I recommend to you is called Nachi-taisha or Nachi-san.

Enjoy!
