Embassy Reception Etiquette?

Postby wwindyandwwild2333 » December 1st, 2012 12:23 pm

Hi,

I've been invited to a reception at the Ambassador of Japan in Oslo to celebrate the Emperor's birthday, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience at all with this kind of thing and can give me a few tips?

Things I'm mainly worried about are what to wear, what to say, and how to behave generally. Are there any good (formal) phrases I should use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

wwindyandwwild2333-san,
Wow, that sounds lovely!! :D
Well, I don't really think you need to worry too much. If you'd like to say, for example, "Thank you for invitation",
"go-shoutai arigatou gozaimasu" or "omaneki kudasari arigatou gozaimasu".
If you chose formal wearings which is suitable to visit someone like ambassador, it should be fine
