Plug-in needed to hear kana?

Postby Bob1 » April 25th, 2006 3:44 am

Hi David,

I was just checking out the kana (well, yes, I do already know them) to see how things were working. Using Safari in Mac OS X 10.4.6, I hear nothing when I hit the button for any given kana. It's the same regardless whose voice I choose. But I know that the audio on my computer is working, because I can listen to the mp3 using quicktime.

Do I need some plug-in. If yes, the page should alert me as to what plug-in I need.

This isn't for me. I'm just trying to be helpful by beta-testing your features.

Bob

I'm not David, but I think you have to have Flash installed.

Flash solved the problem!

Thanks, Jason. The Flash plug-in got it working. I had to restore my hard drive from a backup last week, but applications weren't included on the backup. Anyway, my Safari browser once again has its Flash plug-in.

Nevertheless, it would help make the site a little more idiot-proof  if there were some sort of warning and link to Flash downloads.

Sorry about not being clear enough about the need for flash to hear the voices. I will write a notice somewhere in there and include a link to download flash as well. Thanks for the feedback!
