Learning center for mobile devices

Postby norgus » September 12th, 2006 6:22 pm

I'm going to start from a selfish point of view, because I own a Palm.

I think including tests and flashcards and possibly even the jlpt listening material in some basic interface that could be used on Palm OS would be great.

From a more broad perspective, possibly a mobile java based thing rather than palm os specifically.

Ipods are good to an extent, but the screen is a bit insufficient and theres no proper interactivity like you can get on mobile devices (especialy Palm pilots or Pocket PCs).

Couldn't you just use a browser and access the LC as normal?

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that firstly, wifi access is pretty rare (at least in England, how is it elsewhere?).
Secondly, only some mobile devices have wifi (and if its a phone I think the internet connection alone is expensive and slow).
Lastly, the learning center probably won't work on low resolution devices and cut-down browsers.

Also, because time limiting these mobile things might be difficult, I wouldn't mind paying a seperate once-off fee to get them (as long as its well thought out and contains most features of the learning center)

Say a certain small fee per 20 lesson pack?

I'm just throwing ideas out there that I think sound interesting and I'd be willing to pay for. I love the podcast guys!

Oh, you mean a program you could use offline. Ok, I gotcha now.
