Hi Jpod101 Friends,

I have some vacation time coming up and was thinking of finally coming over to Japan. I'm planning a 3 week trip with my friend and it happens to overlap with Golden Week. I've heard it can be a headache to travel during this time but I also know there is alot of attactions that go on during this week.

Does anyone have any incite into staying in Tokyo during Golden Week?

Zubin

We travelled to and around during Golden Week a couple of years ago. Most of the time we stayed in Kyoto (because there is a lot to do there), but we didn't find the travel too congested, or the hotels too difficult to book. Possibly because it is a whole week rather than only a few days (like New Year).

If you are only staying in one place (like Tokyo), you will probably just encounter the usual crowds. This will be particularly true if you are going to a major attraction like Disney (or FujiQ for the more adventurous).

Thank you for sharing your experience.

It depends on where you are going.
Morning crowed trains on weekdays in Tokyo might be crazier…
