Practicing Nihongo with Siri or Google What do you ask?

Postby mrvash_513250 » January 6th, 2017 5:48 am

I couldn't find a post on this so here it goes!

Hajimemashite! Watashi wa Jonasan desu! Yoroshiku onegai shimasu!

I am new to Nihongo and one way I have been practicing is asking Siri questions such as, "Ima nan-do desu ka?" "Nan-ji desu ka?"
You know, little things I learn each day. One thing I can't get her to tell me is when I ask for something near me.
I looked up word for "near" and constructed the sentence to the best of my knowledge lol but she isn't understanding me!!!

So what are some ways you have been asking Siri/Google question or directions?

FYI: If you haven't already done so, here is how you can set Siri to Japanese: Settings > Siri > Language > Japanese

Sore Dake! Konichiwa!

Hi ,
Thank you for posting.

Using siri and try her to understand your Japanese is a very good idea, isn't it? I will try it in English to improve my English skill :lol:

Here is a handy phrase;
~~ wa doko (desu ka). = Where is ~~?
Kono chikaku no ~~ = ~~ around here.

Try "Kono chikaku no eki wa doko?" meaning "Where is the nearest station?" on Siri :D

Search "Googleアプリ" on YouTube. You may find some interesting videos :D
