例文を書きましょう•reibun o kakimashou

Postby Belton » August 3rd, 2006 2:38 pm

Rather than keep making a thread per podcast, as it might start filling the forum up with similar but under-used threads, I've decided to make a combined thread.

The idea is still the same, a place to practice single sentences as a less daunting alternative to the conversation threads.

Come along daily, weekly, or as the mood takes you.

--------------
So those pointers again--

To try out new grammar points or vocabulary,
listeners can leave some example sentences here.
If you use kanji please give furigana. 漢字[かんじ]
If you only use hiragana use word breaks.
    Romaji is very welcome too.
Try to not use a dictionary too much but use words you already know.
It can be useful to give an English translation.
If it's relevant to a particular podcast or grammar point please give the reference.
It's more important to try than to be right

Mistakes will be made, and are a good way to learn.
Hopefully amongst ourselves we can correct them.
Ideally an advanced learner or a native speaker might drop by and help out on this.

頑張って

Well let's start off with some giving and receiving 8)

生徒[せいと]は先生[せんせい]にりんごをあげました。
The students gave the teacher an apple.

先生[せんせい]は生徒[せいと]にりんごをもらいました。
The teacher received an apple from the students.

Here, I am not sure wether use kara or ni.

ZockZon:

Gramatically, your sentences are correct, but linguistically, there is a problem with the first one. Since the students give to the teacher who is of a higher status than them, you should use sashiageru.

As for the thing about intransitive verbs, consider the following example:

私は部長に働いてあげた ← this is ungramatical.
watashi wa buchou ni hataraite ageta

私は部長のために働いた ← this is good :)
watashi wa buchou no tame ni hataraita

Can I make a gentle reminder to try to give a kana or romaji furigana?
Just so it's easily accessible to beginners. ne?

I didn't know and had to look it up -->
ために
shows the target of an action
often translated as "for (the purpose of)"
ために follows nouns and the plain or polite forms of verbs
when following a noun it requires the particle の
it can also show cause or reason in some circumstances.

I think I am getting confused because transitive and intransitive verbs are maybe not the same in swedish as in english.
