help with my practicing!

こんにしわ，皆さん
so i am down in hawaii for about 10 days, and you all know how many Japanese people visit the islands since its only a 5 hour flight or so.
anyway, i figured this is a perfect opportunity to practice my Japanese.
im still on the newbie lessons, but can you guys point out some good things to talk about in a conversation, and maybe the lesson that it is discussed in?

For the record, about your first word:

The way you SAY it would be konnichi wa, however, you always write it in hiragana as konnichi ha. Make sense?

Tatoeba: こんいちは ^_^

Talk about simple things. It's really common to talk about the weather.

Where they are from, which prefectures etc.
Doko kara kimashita ka?

Where they have been in HI.
Hawaii de Doko ni ikimashita ka?

And yes, you can talk about the weather, especially if it's a good weather.

I've always found that Japanese are impressed by me saying one or a few words in the language. If you can spout out full phrases and even answer a question or two you're asked, you should have some fun conversations. Most likely they will know more English than you know Japanese, so you should be able to communicate in one of the two languages. Have fun!
