Hiragana & Katakana

Postby takabudodokokai_515134 » January 20th, 2017 6:04 pm

Good morning,

This week I mastered the 106 Hiragana Syllables. I practice the full set every day. Now I am wondering if I should continue to learn Katakana right away, or maybe add another week to review Hiragana. What would you recommend?

Honestly, it's what you want to do;

I'm at one and a half years of study, am familiar with 65% of the kanji necessary to be fluent, going through the Intermediate lessons, translating imported manga...

...and I've spent zero time formally learning Katakana. I don't recognize most of it, but it hasn't been an issue. At some point, I'll get around to it. As it is, I run into it with such relative infrequency that even if I did take a week to learn it, I'm not sure if my current rate of exposure to written Japanese will be enough to keep it in memory.
