Phrases for meeting with new people?

Postby MisterWanderer » October 12th, 2006 7:12 pm

I live in the central region of California and I studied Japanese in College.
I went to Japan after college and enjoyed it even though I was rather bad at Japanese (could and still can only hold the most basic of conversations).
After that I came back and got a job and didn't have enough time to study.
I am trying to get back into it and Jpod is helping me a lot.

I'm not a beginner but I don't think I am a full fledged Intermediate yet either.
Most of the Intermediate lessons take me a few times through.

Now that I am back I found a few Japanese exchange students (and some travelers) to exchange language with.
This weekend I am going to be going out to dinner/drinking with one of the guys I met it turns out that he has a few friends who want to meet me.
Seems they are all (or nearly all) female. I just listened to J culture class #8 and learned りょうてにはな (flowers in both hands) and I want to use it to see what reaction I get.

I thought I would post and ask if anyone wanted to share other fun or useful phrases that I could use in this situation. Please give hiragana along with meanings.

I'm mostly looking more for casual fun speech not total player speech.
But the latter is ok if you make it clear that it is what it is.

Thanks,
MisterWanderer

I didn't post early enough it seems.
Or perhaps in the wrong forum.
It went well none the less.
I approve of this message.
