Using うち to mean ”I" or "us?"

So in my watching of anime or ガキの使いやあらへんで (Comedy Variety Show) an interesting little detail has been interesting as to me. The use of the word うち to mean "I."
たとえば：”うちもあめが欲しい、”　ガキの使いで”うちの「Insert someone's name」”
Is this just some sort of dialect thing? ありませんなら、詳しく説明してください。

I don't think this is a dialect thing. I think it's fairly standard. But there are actually two reasons うち can mean 'we'.

うち (kanji 家) means house or household, and by extension, one's family or 'we'.

Meanwhile, 内 can also be read うち, and means 'inside', or by extension one's "in-group" or, again, 'we'.

内のand 家のare often used as ‘my’ for example, my house, my home, my wife, my husband and so on in all over Japan.
However, I think people from the western part of Japan tend to use うちas ‘me’ like ‘私’.
