For higher level learners

I find it interesting to listen to the sister site of japanesepod101, englishpod101. It's like learning in reverse.. Fun to try and follow the fast Japanese explanations, and great for English teachers living in Japan who would like to explain their language using Japanese.

I've forgotten about this article, but now I'm glad I've reread it. I've gotten a lot of questions of why I'm learning Japanese, and the response I give them is because I can, and because I want to. When they keep on, I tell them that anyone can learn Japanese.

I've met a few people who think they need to be the translator for you and that you can't possibly understand Japanese. These people are to be ignored at all costs if you wish to further your studies. I've also met a few who can't believe an American can learn Japanese. I guess they're so used to the military people here just speaking English to them. These people are also highly annoying because they'll go on for days about how wonderful your Japanese is.
