Do well in JLPT=better visa treatment

Postby sashimidimsum7250 » May 1st, 2008 11:30 pm

If you needed more of an incentive to do well in the JLPT, this may be it. It will be easier to get a visa and visa extension if you speak more Japanese rather than less Japanese.

The article mentions the JLPT:

The government plans to assess Japanese language skills based on the results of the Japan Foundation's Japanese Language Proficiency Test and other tests.

But unfortunately it doesn't mention what the minimum JLPT level is for favorable treatment.

Contrary to what most Japanese think, foreigners need to know the language in order to live their lives. I applaud the government here doing such a thing in order for everyone to function.

I already know about 200-300 kanji, and about 1000 words, but this gives more of an incentive to study! Now should I study for level 3 or level 2? I believe I can pass level 3 this year, and level 2 next year.

Thans Jpod for having the JLPT tests in the premium bank. They're worth every penny!! :D
