Yes! Passed 2級.

Writing-Vocabulary: 80/100
Listening: 59/100
Reading-Grammar 118/200

Surprised I did so poorly at Reading-Grammar...I suppose it is a good thing that I am studying grammar this year.

Congrats to everyone for passing!
Have you all started studying for next year yet?
I started last week, but having a hard time getting motivated.

the Reading-Grammar was tough.
do you think you'll take 2級 again for a better score, move on to 1級, or abandon the entire process?

and now for someone who didn't pass...

As expected (or, better expressed, やっぱり), I didn't pass JLPT Level 2 (I just got the link to view my results online). However, I scored about twice as high as I thought I did (I anticipated around a ~15%). So I guess my 30% is somewhat decent considering I didn't guess at all (I left all questions that I didn't get to blank).

Here is my score breakdown:
Score1(Vocab): 41
Score2(Listening):44
Score3(Reading/Grammar):34
Total: 119/400

Again, this was no surprise to me as a couple weeks before the exam I knew I was going to fail as I had basically not studied much for it in the preceding months (that semester I ended up insanely busy with TAing, classes, research and planning my out-of-town wedding). Plus, of course, I had not yet discovered JapanesePod101 (残念) so I was basically trying to hack at the vocab/grammar learning on my own.

Anyway, if only I had discovered JapanesePod101 sooner!! :( Oh well...better late than never. JPod101 has really motivated me to stick with it and try again for 2kyuu next year (or I guess, THIS year). :) At least this next time I'll have a fresh start, with a new name and all. :D

annie,

I'm definitely taking 1級 next year. This was actually my second attempt at 2級 already (last year 50%).

I learned all of the 常用漢字 last year, so this year I am focusing on vocabulary and grammar. I have a bunch of books that I bought and never read (Unicom 文法・語彙1-2級, 完全マスター文法1級と2級, Intermediate Japanese). This year, I made a schedule, and am forcing myself to get through these texts (and enter the grammar into SuperMemo!)

I find that I'm best motivated by setting some goal like this...last year, I was trying to learn a certain number of kanji a month...this year it's a certain number of chapters and vocab.

Whoo-hoo! Passed Level 3.

Score1(Vocab): 87
Score2(Listening): 78
Score3(Reading/Grammar): 180
Total: 345/400 (86.25%)

I'm definitely signing up for level two this year. Thanks J-Pod!

Congrats all. I finally got my results through for 3kyuu:

Kanji/vocab: 95%
Listening: 78%
Reading/grammar: 193/200 (96.5%)
Total: 366/400 = 91.5%

Looks like listening is still my weak spot. If only I had discovered Jpod101 sooner... :-)
On the flip side, without jpod101 I think I would have got less than 50% on the listening.

So, onwards and upwards I guess. I am studying for 2kyuu now... but to be honest I don't think I will be ready for it this year. Just too much kanji and vocab to learn. 2008 though I will nail it for sure.

Congratulations, everybody!
Finally, results are in even here - passed level 4 (Vocab: 95, Listening: 85, Reading-Grammar: 166)

Thanks to you all, especially the grammar wizards who answered so patiently my stupid grammar questions. In the end, I did understand something...

Of course, I'm studying for 3級 this year. Stay tuned for my stupid grammar questions, level 3
