sunday - にちようび (日曜日)
monday - げつようび (月曜日)
tuesday - かようび (火曜日)
wednesday - すいようび (水曜日)
thursday - もくようび (木曜日)
friday - きんようび (金曜日)
saturday - どようび (土曜日)

it's interesting the way they name their days. as you can see, the common word for "day" is ようび (youbi). but that's not the interesting part. the interesting part is the name of the day.

the days are named, in kanji, after natural elements.
sunday is named "sun" 日.
monday is named "moon" 月.
tuesday is named "fire" 火.
wednesday is named "water" 水.
thursday is named "wood" 木.
friday is named "gold" or more accurately, "metal" 金.
and saturday is named "earth" 土.

unfortunately there's no "wind" and "heart" so no captain planet for you. =P

edit:
actually there is a newbie lesson that talks about days of the week.
newbie lesson #23 - A Not So Golden Week

One of the early beginner lessons covers it, I can't remember what it's called but it has Take asking Natsuko on a date and she says every day is bad and then answers her phone and tells her friend she's free all week.

What do you mean by the readings anyway? Jemstone gave them in his first post. They're basically just seven vocabulary words to learn, I don't really see how you could explain it any more than Jemstone already did.

I'd recommend getting the PDFs if you haven't already, you'll get nowhere trying to memorise 20 minutes of audio, it's a lot easier to read over half a page of text when reviewing.

the PDF for "A Not So Golden Week" covered the days of the week.
"Nihongo Dōjō - Welcome to Style You 19" also obliquely refers to the days of the week.

we recently started a offering a review track also (this will be a standard for all lessons after january 2008, although it's pretty much a standard feature already). unfortunately lessons made before this implementation lack this feature. BUT, it's my mission to record new review tracks for any Nihongo Dojo lessons that don't have it. and the days of the week, months, numbers, etc. will all be covered, if they weren't already. i hope to have these done by february.
