You write your name the way it is pronounced, so I think your name is ジャン.

I'm an English speaker and don't know Turkish. But I believe that Can is pronounced like "Jan" and not like "Kan". Katakana is phonetic, so it will be ジャン and not カン.

Yeah, the reading of both languages(Turkish and Japanese) are same.
Thank you.

Hey everybody,

I'm relatively new here, and was looking for help on how to say my name in Japanese / write my name is katakana. I have a very untraditional name.

My name is TajRoy Duane Calhoun (or just TajRoy).

If my first name looks hard to pronounce, it really isn't.
Taj is like. . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA-vL8O75zM
And Roy is a simply as it seems. Just Royal without the al.

Would Taj be タジ or タジュ
And would Roy be ロ or ロー (or ロウ) or ロイ or ロユ

Also, are middle names used in Japanese?

I would be so grateful for any help!

TajRoy Duane Calhoun san,

Konnichiwa.
Thank you for the question.
Firstly your first name, it would be タジロイ or タージロイ.
You can choose one is close your original name.

Second, Japanese native speakers don’t have middle names however, if you want to use yours, of course you can tell that to Japanese people.

Third, katakana is phonetic. Unfortunately I am not sure how to pronounce your middle name and family name so I can’t tell you how to write them in Japanese. If you tell me the pronunciations, I will tell you them in Japanese as I did for your first name.

Duane is conventionally written as ヂュアン. Personally, I think it ought to be ヂュエイン but sometimes there is already a convention and you just have to go along with it. For example, London (the capital city of England) is conventioally written as ロンドン but phonetically it really ought to be ランドン.

Calhoun is written as カルフーン. The fu in the middle is pronounced somewhere between "hu" and "fu".

マイケルさん、
今日は。
そうですね。ロンドンはすでに決まっていますからランドンではいけません。
しかし、インターネットがインタネットになるように変わる時や両方使っていい時もあります。
そして、「ヂュ」はほとんど使われない字ですからジュの方がいいと思います。

That’s right. Writing London is already decided so it must be ロンドン not ランドン.
However, like インターネットbecomes インタネット or using both of them is sometimes ok.
Then ヂュ is hardly used so ジュ may be better.

frank_is_amazing17 san,
こんにちは。
The last syllable of Konnichiwa is は because it’s particle.
Your family name is リュー.
フランク リュー さんです。
