The Naomi-sensei appreciation thread

Postby andycarmenjapanese8100 » February 18th, 2013 6:19 pm

I first heard Naomi on the Gengo Japanese audiobook and I've been a fan ever since. When I completed that course, I moved to Japanese Pod and I'm currently working my way through the Advanced Beginner series she recorded with Peter. I enjoy all the hosts but her good humour and insights are particularly entertaining for me.

So, thank you Naomi-sensei for all your help and hard work. I've learned so much!

Once I've finished with Kantaan Kana, I'll be going through the audio lessons daily. I do enjoy hearing her!

I usually don't revive dead threads, but I wanted to say I am a returning user of JapanesePod101 from several years back. I remember really liking the site and finding it to be very helpful. One of the main things I remember are the lessons with Peter and Naomi (also, I love the way her name is pronounced, rather than Nay-O-mi.) It all felt kinda hokey but after a few lessons they really grow on you. I just joined again tonight and will start listening again tomorrow at work. Looking forward to it and hopefully I'm able to stick with it this time!

Also, I'll add on appreciation for the cute girl who did the Kanji videos... I need to find those again. Hitomi? Hatsumi? Hiroko? I'm just making things up now... I think she was the same lady in the video that plays on the main page. I think... it's been a long time.

Anyway... point is I agree with the OP. ^_^

Yeah, Hiroko. She's gone now. Has a new baby girl.

R3belD0gg-san, andy-san,
kon'nichiwa! :D

Hiroko used to be a main host of video lessons; we have new lessons with other Japanese hosts
(both audio and video), so hope everyone will enjoy them too!

I finished Newbie Season 4 and I am in the middle of Beginner Season 4. Naomi Sensei and Peter were great. These are some of the best podcasts I have ever heard. They are great teachers, and they have great energy together. Thanks to their lessons, my conversational ability has surprised my Japanese teacher after just three months of study. These podcasts taught me so much more than from Genki. I wish Naomi-sensei all the best.

Hiroko was my favorite back when I started a few years ago. I miss seeing her, but It's good to hear that she is doing well. hopefully i'll see/hear her again on a video one day.

But if not, thanks for getting me started on Japanesepod101.com :)

and thanks to everyone else who i've listened to since then of course.

I have to say that Naomi sensei was the tipping point that brought Japanesepod101 to the next level. The stories she wrote were interesting and funny. It kept my interest up all those years. She's the best! :oiwai:
