Good luck everyone!

Postby daraconn3460 » November 29th, 2012 1:04 pm

To everyone else who's doing the JLPT this Sunday, I wish you all the best of luck. It's time for all that study to finally pay off, and on Sunday afternoon we can all enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Yeah - thanks. Good luck to you too! I'm trying for N5 - just finally got around to doing an entire past paper, and very glad I did! Some bits only make sense after a bit of pondering.

For example, in the listening section I was completely thrown until I realised the first dialog they played was for the Example question! I was going "What's this got to do with this picture? Help!"

Also, I've only just understood the format of the grammar questions with the four three blanks and one star. First time round I didn't realise that all four of the answers go somewhere in the four blanks. Call me dense if you like, but maybe in the last-minute panic my brain is a little slow.

Anyway, as you say - good luck everyone!

And jPod: How about a new N5 prep course? :)

N5 felt pretty tough. Harder than the published sample paper by quite a way. Oh well...

dominicashmole> I hope you did OK, despite finding it hard. When I did N5, I thought it was the hardest exam I'd ever done. It felt like more of an achievement to me than getting my PhD. However you did, keep the faith, study hard, have fun, listen to Jpod101, 頑張ってください。

Not very happy unfortunately. I was trying for N2, even though it's above my level. I thought with a lot of hard work and a little luck I might pass.

Well I worked hard, but the luck wasn't with me on the day. A very discouraging paper. But I'll study some more and try again next year.

Martin: thanks for the encouragement. :-)
I can always have another go next year if need be.
Learning Japanese does seem to be a large task!

Yes, it was hard for me too. I have a horrid feeling I'll be doing it again...
We'll see in March I guess.

Thank you for comments, everyone!!
It seems many of you felt the exam was difficult...? Well, fingers crossed
Hope the exam encouraged you to study more, not let you down :kokoro:

We thought N5 was hard, too, but I'm very grateful to have found the review materials on J-pod just a few days before hand. We took the advice on what to study and definitely got more right answers than we would have otherwise. It was "just" N5 but I do not remember a more panic-inducing test experience.

I took N3 for the second time. I passed last year, but I wanted to try for a higher score before tackling the ominous N2. I thought the reading section was easier. Most people seemed to finish before time was up, opposed to last year. Listening is always hard for me and I guessed on all of the last 7 questions. I also noticed that quite a few vocabulary words were ones that my White Rabbit Flash Cards categorized as N2. Does anyone else have observations about N3?

Happy to say that I did in fact pass! :-) How did that happen?
I think they must have seriously scaled the marks up a bit - perhaps they set a bit of a tough test.
Anyway, thanks to jPod for all the great study support. I am now "able to understand some basic Japanese" :-)
