goo.ne.jp kokugo-jiten accent?

Postby Psy » June 16th, 2009 6:43 pm

I've been looking around on this one and have yet to find an explanation. In the goo.ne.jp dictionary's word listings, there is an accent provided with various numbers written in subscript. This is unlike any paper dictionaries I have used, which typically just show a bracket or highlight the text somehow. Does anyone here have any idea of how to interpret it? Take a look here to see what I mean.

Thanks!

If the number is 0, you follow the default LHHHHHHHHHH....... stress pattern, otherwise the number tells you the mora after which the H ends. Multiple numbers = multiple possible pronunciations.

e.g.

23 -> LHL or LHH (with the trailing particle と as L in both cases) -> こり(と) or ことり(と)
