kanji needed to use the ATMs in Japan

Postby untmdsprt » May 8th, 2009 9:05 am

I have an account with Mizuho bank, and some of their ATMs have not be updated to display anything in English.

If anyone knows the kanji, please let me know for the following:

balance inquiry - ATM card
balance inquiry/updating your bankbook 預金通帳(よきんつうちょう) (Japanese banks will actually print everything into your bankbook so you never have to write in it.)
deposit - 預金(よきん) (not for sure on this one)

withdrawal - 引き出し(ひきだし)
PIN number - 暗証番号(あんしょうばんごう)

ありがとうい!

I know the ones for withdrawal and PIN number are correct, and I think the one for deposit is okay too but I usually don't deposit money using ATMs so I'm not exactly sure :) I do know that updating your bankbook is 通帳記入 (つうちょうきにゅう).

Thanks, I'll try looking for that kanji. I was thinking I had answered my own question when I posted this topic.

Wow!! These are great!!! I wish my company had provided something like this. The people who created this website actually have a clue of what it's like to live in a foreign country. My employers certainly don't!! :x
