Remove romaji from lesson quizzes?

Postby Nekomata » May 17th, 2006 9:51 am

Hi,

Thanks for great podcasts and a great learning site! There is one thing that would make it even better for me - if it was possible to remove the romaji transcriptions from the lesson quizzes (as an option, people that like it should be able to still have them there).

I like to practise reading kanji and hiragana as much as possible but it's very hard not to "cheat" by looking at the romaji when it's right there :D

Keep up the good work!

I agree. It is hard not to look at the romaji when you're used to the letters - one quick glance is all it takes to see what it says.

I agree, I'm trying to avoid Romanji as much as I can and white-out is annoying

Another vote for optional Romaji.

I think my opinion of rouma-ji is pretty well known around here by now, but I think having rouma-ji in the beginner's lessons is ultimately going to be very bad for the beginning learners.

*bump*

Starting to take a few of the quizzes now, and I'm also finding the romaji too easy to notice, right by the hiragana.

Add me to the list of requesters.

I'd like to add my vote to the optional romaji.
One temptation less...

I'd like the Romaji to be optional too.

One thing I have noticed is that a LOT of the quizzes, especially the early ones, have romaji only by the correct answer, making it quite easy to tell which answer is correct.
