たとえば:

I have learned to be careful not to tell offensive jokes.

I found the following example from ALC:

立場を変えてみることは私にとってすごく勉強になりました
Changing places was quite an education for me.

so I guess my hunch was right and I can use it for general experience.

Any comments on the construction?

ie.何何は誰誰に 勉強になりました
