マイケルさん、

wow, thank you very much for the information! I really didn't know that (about

木鼠) You're "not entitled" to 切腹 because you helped me learning Japanese:lol:

We don't really use kanji very often to mention any animals, to be honest.

Even dogs and cats can be written with hiragana or katakana.

So, not-commonly-seen animals are written with more often in ....

hiragana or katakana, I suppose.

I remember there were MANY cute squirrels in UK!! Foxes.....not very cute:mrgreen:

It seems that 木鼠 is actually the old name for 「ツパイ」 or " treeshrew". Wikipedia says:-

古くは「キネズミ」と呼ばれた。外見、行動はリスに似ているが、系統的には全く別の動物である。

Formerly known as "kinezumi" (tree mouse/rat). Outwardly resembles the squirrel but is classified as a completely separate species.

So it was a mistake, but not a very bad one. Unlike missing the が out. That's embarrassing. I will now slip quietly away and commit 切腹.

マイケルさん、

Very good!

「イギリスには、うさぎやリスや狐や鹿がいます。家では猫二匹と犬一匹を飼っています。犬は柴犬です。」

これでパーフェクトになりますよ!This would be perfect!

"[place] ni wa [noun] GA imasu"

Please don't forget "ga" before "imasu"

I never knew kanji for squirrels, but it seems the correct one is 栗鼠...

we usually write it with katakana or hiragana. (too much work for lazy person like me)
