Haircut words?

Postby jpeary » April 17th, 2007 2:06 am

Can somebody suggest some words that will (or should) come up during a (man's) haircut at a barber shop? I will get my first haircut in Japan soon and I'm not sure of the right words. . . short, shorter, long, etc.
Chiisai for short OK?
ookii for long OK?
Or are these not the right terms.
Other suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim in Tokyo

I cheat Jim - I go to a hair salon where the stylist lived in NY for 11 years. If you can get to Akasaka near the new TBS building then I recommend Yuki at Who Ga. I tried others before I found this and it made a huge difference - they are used to cutting the western lighter hair. They all speak English (part of English OK campaign) and they don't mess about taking 2 hours for a simple cut.

I think you would probably use migikai for shorter
