What Japan related holiday gifts did you receive?

As for me, being in Japan is enough :)

Last year I got a Wordtank electronic dictionary.

I finally got a English-Japanese dictionary!
Also, a lovely woman from Japan, Chiaki, gave me a whole bunch of things from there.
My favourite, four different types of chewing/bubble gum! (I ask for that and a magazine from people who go abroad). Excellent!

And I got Hi-Chew sweets and Monkey (Magic) DVD boxset - the complete series... with dubs though, mostly. And a samurai movie.

... I think that's it. =D I'm very happy with all my wonderful gifts, Japanese or not.

My husband gave me a "Magnetic Haiku" set -- you know, the thing where you put words on a refrigerator door.
And he gave me two beautiful, large art books: Utamaro and Hiroshige prints. I guess I'm really lucky!

Utamaro and Hiroshige prints! I love those! My grandpa paints them and gives them to me and my friends sometimes! Magnetic Haiku sounds really cool too! It makes your cooking more fun!

I did! Thank you =D And I hope you did too, xx

Precisely! I ask for them because it's very interesting to see what different flavours and different types of bubblegum you can get in other countries. In England, I feel as if there is none (apart from maybe when they bring out "Limited Editions") and in other countries, there are flavours I wouldn't have even thought of and they've all been very nice!

I got アンダーグラウンド by Murakami Haruki. It looks much tougher than 夜のくもざる, which I already own, but I think I'll give myself a New Year's 挑戦. Gonna wait until I get my iPod touch though, since I'll need a handy dictionary (I'm itching to buy it, but it's sold out everywhere!).

Don't know if this counts, but I ordered a bunch of Japanese stuff for myself for Christmas:

-Read Real Japanese Fiction: Short Stories
-Japanese Graded Reader 2 vol. 1 from the Japan Shop
-Kana de Manga: Japanese Sound FX
-Essential Kanji for Everyday Use, Vol. 2 (just finished Vol. 1 over Christmas break)

...plus the movie Train Man (電車男)on DVD. Can't wait for stuff to start arriving by mail.
Looking forward to another year of studying Japanese!

I am now! Sitting in my first mangakissa so my wife can take a nap before my first bit of karaoke... I think that's a pretty good Christmas present!

Like Michael, I bought my own Japanese "presents" for Christmas:

Read Real Japanese - Fiction
Read Real Japanese - Essays
English/Japanese Picture Dictionary

I've been able to get most of the books at Indigo (bookstore chain in Canada) or through Amazon. It also helps that I work beside a Japanese bookstore. I've only ordered from Japan once.
