My Voice Recorder

Voice Recorder will not run on my PC. Get the following error message:
"Java version 1.7.0_05
Please report error to webmaster.
java.lang.RuntimeException: Audio I/O from Java not supported on this system.
"
Do I need to install/upgrade/turn on something??

I still cannot get this rescource to run on my system.

Could you please let me know if I need to install something or adjust a setting. Thank you.

As far as I can make out, this error message means that Java cannot access your microphone and/or your speakers. So the problem might be that you don't have a microphone plugged in.

If you definitely have both a microphone and speakers, try checking if you can record and play back using the standard Windows tools (e.g. Sound Recorder).

If everything is plugged in and working, it's possible that some other program has grabbed control of either the microphone or the speakers, so try closing programs that might be doing that (don't forget things that are running but idle, like Skype, video messaging, etc).

What does the voice recorder do? Just record my voice? It doesn't compare my speech against Japanese speaker?

The voice recorder is designed to help you listen to your pronunciation and check it by yourself. We're sorry that it doesn't have the function for comparing your voice with a native Japanese speaker's pronunciation.
