Really, really, long file names ??

Postby ShiroiNeko » May 16th, 2008 10:36 pm

At least 10 of my recent downloads are arrived with amazingly long file names - over 90 chararacters !!
Here are a few examples ...

I'm still using the same podcast feed software that I always have, so I am assuming the problem is not at my end.

I doesn't take long to rename the file, and crop it down, but I would rather get file names shorter, as before.

Could this be investigated, and fixed, if possible ??

Could I have a reply, please ?
Is anyone else getting this problem, or is a technical problem at my end ?

I just had to rename 23 files because of the above issue - annoying !! :x

Our media hosting provider recently added a query string to the urls we redirect to, to prevent people from linking directly to the content delivery network or CDN (to enforce downloads getting served through their redirectors). Unfortunately, there really isn't we can do on our end or theirs as the limitation lies on the podcast receiver software (in your case Juice). My suggestion is to contact Juice or post a link on their forum directly and see if there is a way to not include the query string in the downloaded filename.

We also have been in direct contact with Juice to see if there's anything that can be done on their end. I will let you know if anything comes of it.

There's a good explanation to this issue in the Juice support forum. Here's a link:
