Talking about babies and children

Postby asnaylor » February 14th, 2008 4:58 pm

I'm a new mom, so of course I'd like to be able to talk about my little akachan with other moms in Japanese! I'd like to be able to say how old he is (are baby ages more commonly given in months or weeks?) how big he is (weight and length are usually grams and cm, right?) and a few things about him. Some common baby-related vocabulary words would be helpful! Especially diapers, breastfeeding, formula, bottle, rolling over, sitting up, babbling, eating solid foods, talking, pulling up, walking, etc. Maybe also some things about pregnancy, because moms tend to ask each other. Like, if baby was premature or overdue, was the labor easy or hard, natural delivery or Cesarian, etc. Maybe dads would like to be able to talk about their babies, too! :)

Thank you for considering,
- alison
