Offline Flashcards App

Postby tbilzie2861 » November 23rd, 2013 6:38 am

I had an idea for an app that I was wondering if you guys could do.

I used flashcards incessantly on my phone and Ipad, but when I am underground commuting or someplace without a wi-fi or cell signal I can't keep it up, and I spend a lot of time commuting every day.

Is it possible to have a flashcard app that can be used offline but will sync to our accounts when we have online access? For example, say I do my flashcards for certain lessons offline using the app. While I am offline, my progress is not reflected in the flashcards section of my Japanesepod101 account on the Internet. However when I come back above ground and have internet access again, I can sync the app with my Jpod101 account and then my online flashcards will update to reflect the progress I made offline.

Is such an app possible?

Also, why do I occasionally get "greyed out" flashcards as an error? This is happening more and more frequently. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hi tbilzie2861,

Thank you for your suggestion!
It is a good idea to have flashcards available also when offline. We will discuss about it!

Do you still have problems with the Flashcards?

Thank you,

I second this suggestion. I think flashcard is a very effective tool but i cannot access it while on the train because of poor connection.

laiboonh-san,
thank you very much for the feedback and sorry for the inconvenience :(
I'll talk to my team about it telling them that there's another J-Pod listener with same
opinion. Your feedback is really important to keep improving our site and lessons!
Thank you for taking time to write your comment

The greyed-out flashcards bug has been fixed for a while. Thanks.

Please, add offline flashcards to jpod101 app! It is very important feature! I would use it very often, and many other app users too.

Hi leolit,

Thank you for posting.
At the moment, we don't have any plan for making the flashcards available also in offline mode

Thank you for your understanding,

Hi

i recently started using the ipad app in addition to the site.
What im missing are the Flashcards in the app (doestn need to be offline) and the option to add vocab to my existing flashcard decks.

The rest is working fine and does what it does.

Regards.

I'd say that ability to use offline is essential! The flashcards are an ideal thing to use on, say, an aeroplane trip or on underground trains ...

Was this ever implemented? I just signed up as a premiere user and I use Anki for all kinds of things. I can't find anything for offline flash card use and that's 80% of my available time. I too commute underground. It's an easy thing to make.
