Jazz from/in japan?

hi

ne1 know good jazz music from japan? i like Soil Pimp Sessions and Hirumi Uehara.

I heard Jazz was hyped in japan a few years ago?

Yes! There is plenty of great Jazz music from Japan.

Masayuki "Jojo" Takayanagi is probably my favorite, and probably the most well known as well. Kaoru Abe, who worked with Jojo on many of his most famous recordings, is also widely regarded as being the epitome of great, contemporary jazz music--not only in Japan, but all over the world.

Otomo Yoshihide is another favorite of mine. He made electronic music for 15 years, but has now concentrated on jazz--I think all of his releases in the past three years or so have been live jazz albums. His guitar work truly shines on some of those tracks, too. He doesn't get enough respect.

Wow! that's very interesting, I didn't know that Jazz music was hyped in Japan! :shock: :P

I have alot of Jazz CD's that come Straight from Japan and I love them! 8) :D

My favorite ones are MAL-1 Mal Waldron Quintent, Louis Armstrong, Garage A Trois, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, etc, etc! :wink:
