お好み焼き

Postby emiles8 » April 21st, 2009 4:24 pm

Hi. Does anyone have a good okonomiyaki recipe? I'm trying to make it for my mother. She visited me when I was in Japan and this was her favorite food but it's very difficult to find, even in SF!

doumo!

Well, I don't remember how to make it myself but this youtube user has some good instructional videos and recipes. It's kind of kitschy but I like it.

I'm not sure you'll be able to find yamaimo, but I think most of the other ingredients are available stateside (though personally, I'd probably leave out the sakuraebi). Also, I don't think most recipes call for yamaimo, so leaving it out probably won't hurt.

Do you know Mitsuwa Market Place?

You can get OKONOMIYAKI FLOUR at the shop, or you can oder it on the Internet.

Don't forget to buy OKONOMI SAUCE with it.
Cabbage and sliced pork are must!
Other preferable ingredients such as shrimp, leek(green onion), tenkasu (tempura flakes) are available at the store, I think.
