It's a common sight gag in anime where a guy sees a cute girl in a compromising position and he passes out with blood flying out his nose. I thought it was just anime, but it also is in some J-Doramas too. It's not as huge an action, but it's there.
Does anyone know where this gag comes from? Is there some idiomatic proverb or something? I personally just don't get it, but then I didn't grow up in Japan either.
