Bring a CREDIT Card to Japan?

Postby api0977132001251251151 » August 28th, 2009 2:24 am

Hey guys!

I am wondering...

I don't have a proper credit card yet here in the U.S. I am leaving for Japan in 18 days, and along with bringing my TCF Bank Checking and ATM Card (Which I've always used LIKE a credit card here in the U.S.), should I apply for a Credit Card, for example, at a bank like CHASE?

I believe that makes it so I can avoid getting international fees, correct? This is what I am unclear about.

Any answers I receive back within the next few hours would be SOOOO very appreciated...as I am going to go apply TOMORROW MORNING if the case is true, where International Fess aren't applied to a CHASE Credit Card (Or any other U.S. Bank cards you guys suggest!).

Thanks for any possible answers, guys!!

I've heard that certain Capital One cards have no international fees, but I'm not sure about Chase cards. You might want to try calling them up and asking :)

Sounds good Jessi :) Thank you for the reply!!

I will be asking the bank personally, tomorrow. Capital One hmm?....I'll check into that.
