Mobile/cell phone thread.

I'm heading out to Japan next year for the second time, which I'm happy! But the last time that I went my phone didn't work. Which I didn't research properly, but I have come prepared and needed advice.

As usual any phone that is 3G works in Japan... I was wondering if the LG Secret KF750 would work? The info that I got is that it's HSDPA 3+mbps but wasn't sure because in Japan it's supports UMTS. Could anyone tell me, if it's ok to use? Since that the info that I read from didn't mention UMTS... plus I'm slightly confused on the mobile phone side of technology.
