best time for Harajuku girls?

Postby execute » January 11th, 2008 10:51 pm

Hi, I don't want to miss seeing the Harajuku girls dressed up in cosplay when I visit Tokyo this february. What's the best time of day (and place) to see them?

I thought it was on Sunday afternoons. Is Yoshi Watanabe back in town? He seems to know where to find these type of people. ;)

They're not out in Harajuku like they used to be. Even Sundays are hit-or-miss.

My new Sunday favorites though are the folks in their 30s-40s who are right at the park entrance near Harajuku, dressed in 1950s American-style clothes, poodle skirts, etc, who do a little West Side Story-esque dance routine.

The rockabillies are very funny - though of course they are deadly serious! Don't forget to check out their shoes - yet another use for gaffer tape!
