weather in July 11-22

Postby osmoticpressure » June 16th, 2007 10:29 pm

Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are going to stay in Japan from July 11 through 22 at Tokyo and Kyoto. I am a little bit worried about rainy weather. I listened a podcast from July 2006 and everyone in the show including Peter sang was complaining about how rainy, humid, and unpleasant weather was there in July. Will it be rainy all the time? Any great tips to prepare for Japan's rainy season?
Thanks in advance
Vada from Redondo Beach, CA

Sorry to say but that really is not a good time to visit. Most of the Ex-pats in Tokyo will be shipping their families of to the US or Europe round about now and will bring them back the end of August.

The good news is that it won't rain all of the time - but the bad news is that it will be humid and expect temperatures in the mid-30's. Over 40 on a bad day! Not good in the city I'm afraid.

How to prepare - do you have a sauna you can sit in for a few hours?!

Sometimes it is not too bad and it is nice if you can get out into the mountains

HOT HOT HOT......

I love Japan, but I hate summer-time because of the oppressive humidity. Of course we make it through with the cold beer and hanabi, etc.. but it is hot!!

oh my god! it is so unbelievably hot this year already.
tsuyu has officially started, but there's been no rain to be had yet.

make sure to drink a lot of water while you're here. (at least 2 liters a day)
and fyi- people here don't really wear shorts.
consider buying a parasol.
