"I am bored" ?

Ok, after looking through a few dictionaries, I found that 退屈 roughly means "bored."

So, I guess you could say 私は退屈です。 for I'm bored

But, couldn't that be translated as "I am boring" too?

Somebody help me out here please.

You don't really need 「私は」to get your message across. 退屈です／退屈してる／つまらない／あきあきです are all phrases that express about the same thing. Even though you could extrapolate that the phrase might mean "I'm boring," context gives away what you mean.
