Free online resources

Postby Jimmeny » May 3rd, 2010 7:35 am

I use smart.fm for learning vocabulary and used kanagrams.com for learning kana. Is there anything similar to Kanagrams (and free) for learning kanji? I am really struggling at the moment. I was trying to pick up 20 a day but I am finding this very hard. At the rate I am going at the moment it will take me many years to be able to read even one page of a newspaper.

Cheers,
Thomas

Ya, 20 a day is standard, and you can do many more if you have time. RTK all the way.

Basically yeah, RTK is such an effective way to study that my maximum amount of learned kanji in 1 day was as much as 142, if anyone here believes it. I usually did 50 a day. So it´s definitely worth trying out.

Question: 142 Kanji in 1 day?

I did a similar amount on the first day. I think pretty much everyone does. The first 500 or so are a breeze, although it gets tougher towards the last quarter of the book. You don't waste hours and hours writing out characters hundreds of times; there's no reason it should take forever.

Learning to write/recognise them is only the first step anyway, so it wouldn't be very good if it did take a long time :P
