Creating own flash cards (with Excel?)

Postby Mr Srippery » May 21st, 2008 9:25 pm

Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me (or direct me to somewhere that can tell me) how to create flash cards using Excel (assuming it's possible). Arigatou gozaimashita!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you want to use Excel as a flashcard review system, or do you just want to create printable flashcards?

This is an excel file I made to study English, but it can be used for people who learn Japanese also.
I'm very sorry I did have enough time to translate the manual into English. However, it is very easy to use.

I'm sorry for not making my original post clearer. Yes, I want to use Excel as a flashcard system.

Hatch,

That looks great. However, when I try to use it I get an error. I'm familiar with programming, so I'll try to get it to work.

Is there any particular reason you want to use Excel? If not, then an SRS Flashcard program like Anki would be an infinitely better option. You can synchronise with an online account for free so you can carry on reviewing on a different computer or on your mobile. SRS is much more effective for actually remembering things as well.

I got it to work. :)
Call me a geek :P but I'd be curious to know the algorithm you use for randomization of words order...

Question for Anki users:
Is there any way to change the interval between repetitions?
In this way, if I don't want to postpone the word to next days, I have to choose "completely forgot" or "made a mistake". But I might want (well, I do ;)) to repeat the word again soon, even if I remembered it once now.
