Japanese Numbers from 1 to 10. Hello, welcome back to Hiroko’s one point Japanese lessons. In just a few minutes, you are going to master the Japanese numbers from 1 to 10. Japanese numbers are very easy once you know the numbers from 1 to 10. This lesson is critical. So let’s get started. いち。い、ち。一。 (Ichi. I, chi. Ichi.) に。 (Ni.) さん。さ、ん。さん。 (San. Sa, n. San.) よん。よ、ん。四。 (Yon. yo, n. Yon.) or し。 (Shi.) ご。 (Go.) ろく。ろ、く。六。 (Roku. Ro, ku. Roku.) なな。な、な。七。 (Nana. Na, na. Nana.) or しち。し、ち。七。 (Shichi. Shi, chi. Shichi.) はち。は、ち。八。 (Hachi. Ha, chi. Hachi.) きゅう。きゅ、う。九。 (Kyū. Kyu, u. Kyū.) じゅう。じゅ、う。十。 (Jū. Ju, u. Jū.) Okay now repeat after me. I will say the numbers and give you time to repeat each one. いち、一. (Ichi, ichi.) に、二. (Ni, ni.) さん、三. (San, san.) よん、四. (yon, yon.) or し、四. (Shi, shi.) ご、五. (Go, go.) ろく、六. (Roku, roku.) しち、七. (Shichi, shichi.) or なな、七. (Nana, nana.) はち、八. (Hachi, hachi.) きゅう、九。 (Kyū, kyū.) じゅう、十. (jū, jū.) Great job. Now it’s time for Hiroko’s tip. Japanese kids usually learn their times table using rhythm like this. にいちがに。 (Niichi ga ni.) ににがし。 (Nini ga shi.) にさんがろく。 (Nisan ga roku.) にしがはち。 (Nishi ga hachi.) にごじゅう。 (Nigo jū.) Okay let’s recap with practice. I will say a number in English and you will say the number in Japanese, ready? 10 じゅう。 (Jū.) 9 きゅう。 (Kyū) 8 はち。 (Hachi.) 7 なな。 (Nana.) or しち。 (Shichi.) 6 ろく。 (Roku.) 5 ご。 (Go.) 4 し。 (Shi.) or よん。 (Yon.) 3 さん。 (San.) 2 に。 (Ni.) 1 いち。 (Ichi.) Great job. Now you’ve mastered Japanese numbers from 1 to 10. In the next lesson, you are going to learn the Japanese numbers from 11 to 19.
