Jessi: But something happens and they'll hear an announcement regarding it.
Let's listen to the dialogue and find out what happened.

English Host: Now let’s hear it with the English translation.
Jessi: This is fun, isn't it, Eita?
Jessi: Yeah. Hey, let's ride that next!
Jessi: Waaaah!
Jessi: Just now, there has been an earthquake.
Jessi: Those currently close to buildings, please move away from them.
Jessi: Fuji Q Land is safe even in the event of an earthquake. Please don't panic.
Jessi: Eita, Misaki, are you all right?

Jessi: A few moments ago, there was a magnitude three earthquake.
Jessi: It is estimated to have been a three on the Japanese earthquake scale.
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Jessi:
Tomoyuki: はい。
Jessi: So there was an earthquake.
Fortunately it wasn't that big.
Tomoyuki:
Jessi:
Tomoyuki:
Jessi: Yeah, we only use magnitude in the States when talking about earthquakes.
I think in Japan we care more about the 震度 than the magnitude.
Jessi:
I see. so the magnitude tells you the overall size of the earthquake, whereas 震度 tells you how intense the earthquake was in a certain area.
That's right. I'm from California.
Tomoyuki:
Jessi: Listeners, do you have earthquakes in your country? Please let us know in the comments.

Tomoyuki: 際
Jessi: "on the occasion of", "when", "at the time of"
Jessi: Though "sai" is very similar to "toki," "sai" has a much more formal connotation. Sample sentence please.
Jessi: When you go abroad, don't forget your passport.
In this lesson's dialogue, we have 際でも. It's basically same as ときでも.
Jessi: So 際でも or ときでも mean "even when" "even at the time" Can we hear a sentence from the dialogue?
Tomoyuki:
Jessi: It's safe even in the event of an earthquake.
Jessi: In a normal conversation, とき is more natural, so 際 should be reserved for extra formal situation. OK, on to this lesson's grammar.
