ジェフさん こんにちは。

コメントありがとうございます。

1) why に is the correct particle in this case, 101便に

Your guess that a particle 'no' should be used to make a noun phrase, but in this case, a particle 'ni' is the correct one.

It's because the 101便 is the object/destination of ご搭乗. ご搭乗 can be a verb, ご搭乗なさる and meaning "to board" so that it takes a particle に to indicate an object "to board." In this case, 101便.

This usage of 'ni' is the same as 101便ホノルル行きに、ご搭乗なさるお客様 in line 8.

2) a typo in the sentence, “kin’en to natte orimase”, but it should be “kin’en ni natte orimasu”

You're right. I fixed it. :)

3) a typo in the sample sentence, the Formal version of “The company president is jogging.”

Goof point, but we actually have two usage, 'jogingu suru' and 'jogingu o suru.' So if you use the former one, it would be 'jogingu shite imasu' for Formal one, and 'jogingu nasatte imasu' for extra formal. :)

Hope this helps,

Motoko

In the 5th sentence (the second announcement), the speaker says 101便に. Could you please explain the reason why に is the correct particle in this case. There does not seem to be a verb for which "flight 101" is an indirect object or location. Why wasn't の used instead?

There is a typo in the Lesson Notes PDF, on page 7, in the first rōmaji of the GRAMMAR section. It has "kin'en to natte orimase", but it should be "kin'en ni natte orimasu". Also, on page 9, the rōmaji for the Formal version of "The company president is jogging." is shown as "Shachō wa jogingu o shimasu", but should be "Shachō wa jogingu shiteimasu."
